Let Ocean’s Riff bring you the scent of the sea and the sound of summer. With a splash of jazz, a ripple of reggae, and a sprinkle of bossa nova, get swept away by currents of the southern cape of South Africa. A bit of sea, some sand, a whole lot of soul, the blazing Cape sun and a side of kelp. Inspired by generations of street performers throughout the Cape flats, comes the Afro-Kaapse, “Ghoema-Samba” style.
Band Members: Jean America, Charlie Jones, Robert Francke, Joshua Daniels and Leo Letsape.
“The group authentically formed through forces of friendship and music when Anis Moucer (acoustic Guitar) and Chloé Damon (Vocals) met and discovered their shared enthusiasm for Latin and Jazz music as well as the French language. Soon thereafter, Anis booked a rehearsal session at Tunes Studio where he met drummer, Jean Marais, and the trio was completed.

Jean Jacques Marais started performing at the age of twelve. Fast forward about ten years, and he had already played hundreds of live shows and recorded a number of singles, EPs and albums at studios in and around Cape Town.
